My Story

My story starts in a small district in the border region of Rajasthan & Gujrat called Banswara, where I was born into a humble lower middle class family. As fate had it I would never spend more than 3 weeks at a time in that part of the world. After a brief 2 years in Indore and then the next 3 in the United states I would land in an small and cozy place called Bangalore. This is where it all really began. My childhood, my beliefs, world view, purpose, love, friendship, this city has given it all to me. Had this city not been a part of my life I would be a completely different person.

As the first person in my entire family to have been brought up in a metro city I had the privilege of perspective. I saw the highest of highs and the lowest of lows socially, culturally, economically. This wide range of exposure always pushed me to not confine to a set of ideas and beliefs and always seek out more. It also gave me a fair bit of identity crisis - north Indian but in south India, economically poor but exposure rich, city boy but the hunger of a small town guy and the list keeps going on.

It took me a good 2 years after my 10th grade to solve the dilemma and confusion about my entire being and finally gearing my life towards something meaningful in life. I understood  that I enjoyed being in the process of creating something and seeing the end result of it made me ecstatic. I decided this is what I was going to do. Now the question was how? This was solved quickly as the first wave of startup mania swept the country and I was at the dead center of it. The year was 2015 and the location was Koramangala, Bangalore and almost on a daily basis I got a pamphlet in the newspaper of a new startup. An app for everything, even delivering prasad from the temple to your doorstep, I saw it all. It was the wild west but it gave me the answer to how I was going to spend my life creating things and seeing the results of it, I was going to Startup.

I knew I wanted to pursue BBA in a college not too far away from my home so I could focus on building stuff outside of college. It was 2016, I had just aced my 12th boards, gotten an admission in one of the best colleges for BBA in the country but more importantly I finally had my own touch screen smartphone and laptop. These were to become the biggest assets in my life going forward.

In the first 6 months of college I came up with some really compelling business ideas to pursue, but for some reason or the other I didn't go through with them. A few months or weeks later however I read in the news that a startup doing something similar (if not exactly) what I had thought of had been funded. This happened not once but three times. This was a big indicator that I was thinking in the right way, I just had to think of something that was not an app. What I would take 2 years to build someone else could built it in 2 months, since I was just an 18 year old kid who did not know anything about coding. I had to pick and choose an industry that was on the rise, had an undebated positive impact on the world and something I could grow into over the years.

Electric Vehicles in late 2016 was still a speculative space globally and absolutely not talked about in India, however, I knew enough to take a plunge into it. And thus began a thrilling 5-year journey of fiercely pursuing my passion and growing from an 18-year-old dreamy-eyed boy into a skillful clean mobility Professional.

The learnings have been immense from my time in clean mobility and I'm applying all of those to my current transitionary phase into the exciting world of fintech. It's the start of an exciting phase in life and I'm looking forward to all that awaits me.
